SAVE
was formed by Saybrooke Area homeowners/parents in an effort to
keep elementary school-aged children/residents of Saybrooke within
the boundaries of Cedar Point Elementary School beginning with
the 2004-5 school year. At that time, a new school will be completed
on Ashton Avenue in Manassas, VA, as far as seven miles away.
New boundaries will be proposed and consdered by the Prince William
County School Board in Winter 2004. SAVE is working to ensure
neighborhood children remain at Cedar Point Elemetnary, just a
mile away, rather than face a long commute along congested roads
to the Ashton school. The children have been attending Cedar Point
ES since the school opened in September, 2001, and Saybrooke homeowners/parents
consider it to be their neighborhood school.
SAVE
believes that keeping students in their community schools will
prevent congested traffic problems from getting worse, and further
will best serve the educational interests of the children within
the Saybrooke community.
SAVE
efforts are organized and coordinated by a Steering Committee
which is lead by Terry Lemons, an active Saybrooke homeowner.
